Purple Line Corridor: Live & Work
Construction of the 16-mile, $3.4B Purple Line Corridor, now set to begin service in 2027, will provide an east-west connection from Prince George’s County to Montgomery County. Of the line’s 21 stations, 11 will be located in Prince George’s County, and they are already catalyzing a new era of growth. With the line, stations like New Carrollton become important links between the DC Metro region and the rest of the East Coast. County investments and support are focused on jobs in the two employment centers – College Park and New Carrollton, where a strong research and tech sector is emerging due to UMD’s focus. County investments are also focused on housing in the stations in between. New tools (HITF, ROFR) and existing tools (PILOT, HOME, impact fee waivers) are being leveraged heavily along this line.
