Protect Prince George's County Transit

Say No to WMATA Service Cuts!

We need your help to protect vital transit services in Prince George's County. WMATA is facing a significant budget shortfall, leading them to propose drastic service cuts that will severely impact our community.

Here's what's at stake:

  • Bus Line Eliminations: WMATA plans to eliminate 67 bus lines, 22 of which operate within Prince George's County. This will disrupt the daily commute of thousands of residents who rely on these routes.

  • Rail Service Changes: WMATA may turn back the Silver line before it enters the county, segregating all residents into the Blue line. Additionally, WMATA may close the Morgan Boulevard Metrorail Station, and the entire rail system could shut down as early as 10 PM.

  • Impact on Residents: If these cuts go through, they will affect approximately 14,000 Prince Georgians. For many transit-dependent households, especially in South County, this will have a significant day-to-day impact.

  • Service Reductions: WMATA plans to suspend service after midnight on several routes that service low-income and limited English-speaking neighbors who rely on late-night transit to get to and from work. WMATA plans to discontinue weekend and Sunday services on key routes, further limiting access to essential destinations.

We cannot let these cuts happen without a fight. Your voice matters. Here's how you can help:
